Still around

I'm still around. Thanksgiving-New Years got really busy, and then very shortly after my best friend became my unplanned for roommate. I'm back now though, and hope to blog more.
It seems every time I try to film my video blog something pops up and I'm unable to. I am trying to though. I'm also trying to get some more commissions to keep myself occupied and pay some bills, since I've not been able to find a year-round job :/ I'm working at the Renaissance Festival on weekends though- it's my high school dream job, only 5\6 years after I've graduated.  Here's hoping some people want me to make them some pretties- the workshop is all set up now and I've found some great sources for buttons and trims.

Starting my video blog :3

Sorry I disappeared for a bit- I actually found a job! Sadly, it was at a Halloween shop so it only lasted a few weeks, but I've got tons of applications out, so here's hoping.
I've been wanting to do a video blog for a long time, but haven't really figured out what I should do it on. It came to me on my drive today- cosplay basics no one ever seems to talk about. There are tons of great tutorials out there on how to pose, style wigs, and make all sorts of things, but I've not found anyone talking about secrets I wish I had known when I started. Most of these could also crossover to lolita too! My first one is going to be on shapewear. I'm going to have to see if I can imbed videos here or if I'll just have to link everyone to them.
Wish me luck!

Macarons!

No, not macaroons. Macarons- the deliciously adorable cookies. You see them in decora items and lolita prints all the time, but a lot of people have never gotten to try them, and have no idea what they are, other than cute. And of course, there is the mix-up with those gross coconut cookies.
A macaron is a crispy cookie made with almond flour and sandwiched around a filling of some sort. You can make them in all sorts of different colours and flavours. My favorites are chocolate, strawberry, and coffee, but I've also seen pistachio, blueberry, and mint chocolate.
In the middle there you can see my first attempt at making macarons. They do take a bit of practice and patience to make right, but it pays off in the end!

Halloween

So I'm getting all geared up for Halloween- been working on a Velma costume for myself and a Daphne costume for my sister to wear to my friend's party this Friday.
I'm super happy to be sewing again- I haven't gotten to make anything since July. Regretfully I'm working on a tiny budget and a short time restraint. I'm using  that really annoying cheap crush velveteen stuff since it's the only fabric that had the right colors for under $10 a yard. Not too hung up on it though, since it's just for a Halloween party.

I also need to come up with something to wear for another Halloween party, which should be fairly easy. I'm working in a Halloween shop right now, so I just have to make a choice. I'm thinking a super heroine, but I'm open for just about anything. Anyone have suggestions?

So who am I?

I'm a cosplayer, pastry cook, fan girl, convention organizer, college student, and all around a little bit nutty. This is my story, and I'm sticking to it. Names may or may not be changed to protect the innocent. Names of the guilty will remain intact.
